Autumn's wake. A poem by Naomi Pahl

Autumn’s wake

the pines

are seeping.

the maples

are bleeding.

the willows

are weeping.

air slices the soul,

wrestling,

trembling,

shivering,

the whole.

quivering memories

float down in fleets,

the expansive blanket

shores up cold feet.

white linen shrouds the ground.

pure sky falls all around.

muted slumber ensues,

until the time,

when life is tenderly renewed.
